Perfecte foto MLS, the play of sun/shadow is wonderful, I remembered walking around it.

Oh, I wonder that the three guys are still standing there in Brussels, for they look so enthousiastically moved, excited and living that they must have long since left this post/position- they remind me a bit of the Three Holy Kings/Magicians/Meteorologists, indeed while looking at the comet- or looking if it is raining? In any case they are en route! Your pic is wonderful -in composition, lighting, and colour!

If there a shell/shells on the gown/s can be seen, the Three could be Jacob's- pilgrims, for Brussels was one of the most important stations on the pilgrimage ways to Santiago di Compostella in Medieval times... But I' m not sure!

Known as "Postuurke van Den Blinde". The statue captures three blind people holding onto a stick and finding their way.

So it is not 3 stooges/musketeers/whatever. The number 3 invokes blind mice in my thoughts. Shutup brain - think of something else.

I'm happy and excited -with you- that Louis and yourself found out the motif of this statue which now might receive a quite deeper meaning.
I looked at Brueghel's grandious painting and I have to say never blindness has been painted/depictured in this impressive-moving way, every blind man has another facial expression- geweldig!-as Astrid mightsay!
In the interpretation of my book referring to the painting I read that the worst 'thing' is an inner blindness if we are struck by lack of emotions, of compassion, of love, being unaware and unconscious of the real important things and issues in our life...

Ginnie: Oh yes, Philine! There is definitely a deeper meaning for me now, since in my early years, after I had polio (age 9), I was classified "legally" blind. I had a blind friend in high school who helped me learn about Braille. I even had my own paper stock and stylus/template for writing it. So this has much more meaning than I ever realized. Now I know why this is my favorite of all sculptures...maybe anywhere in the world now! You are so right...inner blindness is the worst of all! God help us all to see!
